With the responsibility to meet customer need by dates as well as offer competitive pricing for services, we have undertaken ongoing 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. 5S is a reference to five Japanese words that describe standardized cleanup and organization while Lean Manufacturing practices work to eliminate waste in the manufacturing process. Beginning with a detailed analysis of the manufacturing processes used, we were able to identify issues and brainstorm solutions. In addition to this, we held an Action Workout Week to organize the various work centers in the shop. Positive results have already been seen as production times and costs have decreased. These ideologies have been embedded into our subconscious and are now a part of every customer’s order.
